Consolidating Student Loans Twice?

CONSOLIDATING STUDENT LOANS MORE THAN ONCE

While you can only consolidate student loans once, there are two exceptions where it may be possible to apply for another consolidation loan. If you decide to go back to school, your current loans will go under deferment. Once you complete your schooling, you can consolidate your current student loans with those you paying on prior to going back to school. This will lower your monthly payment and will also allow you to make one easy payment instead of two each month. Consolidate student loans not only for lower interest rates, but also for convenience.

The other exception to consolidating a loan twice would be if you have two consolidated loans. This can occur if you decide to keep paying your student loans while still in school. You can consolidate additional loans and pay two loans each month, or you can consolidate both loans into one payment. You should look at the amount of money you owe on each loan and see which option is the best. Since interest rates have risen slightly over the years, you may have loans that are lower than the current student loan interest rate. While you should consolidate student loans in order to save money, this could be the exception.
